Qualifications:

• Active Louisiana DOE Certification is required (Temporary Authority to Teach not accepted).
• Recent high school science teaching experience is preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of current state curriculum and science best practices.
• Ability to pass district-required drug screening and fingerprint background check, in addition to standard credentialing.
• Strong classroom management abilities and commitment to encouraging student success.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, standards-based science instruction to high school students according to the district calendar.
• Develop creative lesson plans that meet diverse learning needs and encourage critical thinking.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and support.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to build a positive learning environment.
• Participate in professional development sessions and school-wide initiatives as scheduled.
• Fulfill contract hours of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day.
• Adapt flexibly to school assignments and caseloads, as determined by the district.
