Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns in the Labor & Delivery unit.

  • Monitor maternal and fetal conditions throughout labor, delivery, and recovery.

  • Manage and titrate medications including Pitocin, Magnesium, Insulin, and glucose-related therapies.

  • Perform fetal monitoring, assessments, and interventions based on patient status.

  • Assist physicians and providers during vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and emergency procedures.

  • Provide postpartum care including maternal assessments, education, and newborn care support.

  • Care for antepartum patients, mother-baby patients, and newborn/NICU patients.

  • Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR.

  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatal teams, and multidisciplinary healthcare staff.

  • Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and evidence-based L&D practices.

Requirements

  • Active RN License (IA license required before start date).

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience preferred.

  • Strong experience with:

  1. Labor & Delivery nursing

  2. Postpartum care

  3. Newborn care

  4. Fetal monitoring

  5. High-risk OB patients

  6. C-section recovery

  • Experience managing/titrating:

  1. Pitocin

  2. Magnesium Sulfate

  3. Insulin

  4. Glucose management

  • EPIC experience preferred.

  • Must be willing to work:

  1. Night shifts

  2. Every 4th weekend

  3. Holiday rotation (1-2 upcoming summer holidays if unit remains open)

  4. Must meet facility travel requirements:

  • No local candidates within 90 miles of Finley Hospital.

  • Facility Level: Level 2 Maternal/Neonatal Center

  • Beds:

  • Maternity: 16 beds

  • Nursery: 12 beds

  • NICU: 4 beds

  • C-section Suite: 1

  • Patient Ratios:

  • Labor: 1:1

  • Postpartum: 1:2

  • NICU: 2:1

  • Delivery Volume: 50-60 births/month

  • Patient Population:

  • Antepartum

  • Mother/Baby

  • Newborn

  • OB/GYN

  • NICU
