We are excited to invite applications for the role of Registered Respiratory Therapist. New external candidates are eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus!*

• Work Schedule: Full-time, Night Shift. 36 hours per week, consisting of three 12-hour shifts. Rotating weekends and holidays.
• Shift Differentials: Available for night shifts, weekends, and additional shifts.
• Licensure: RRT MO Licensure is mandatory.

Position Overview:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is a vital healthcare professional responsible for executing all diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care procedures as outlined by the Department of Respiratory Care. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic and driven to contribute to the success of our expanding services, seeking guidance from supervisory staff when necessary.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations:

The following accountabilities are essential for this role:

1. Foster professional and respectful relationships with colleagues to promote a culture of safety.
2. Execute all respiratory therapeutic and diagnostic procedures in alignment with departmental policies. This includes (50% of time):
   • Implementing and assessing oxygen and therapeutic gas functions.
   • Ensuring proper setup and execution of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
   • Administering aerosolized medications.
   • Providing CPT and IPV.
   • Setting up and monitoring ventilators in accordance with hospital protocols.
   • Collaborating with peers and staff to enhance interdepartmental services and addressing issues with relevant personnel.
   • Performing CPR.
   • Conducting diagnostic procedures such as ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, and nitric oxide pulmonary hypertension studies.
3. Continuously assess and reassess each patient’s condition to determine care needs and ensure appropriate responses to treatment.
4. Engage with physicians and nursing staff, potentially working in intensive care settings (25% of time):
   • Responding to critical situations (e.g., ER, OR, Code).
   • Conducting routine checks on Life Support Units.
   • Assisting in bronchoscopy and minor cardiopulmonary procedures.
   • Performing tracheotomy care and bedside studies.
   • Interpreting complex lab data and contributing to patient care decisions.
   • Assisting in the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia based on current evidence.
5. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures in respiratory care (5% of time):
   • Participating in departmental meetings and training sessions.
   • Maintaining accurate attendance records.
   • Communicating effectively with physicians regarding therapies and goals.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned (5% of time):
   • Cleaning and sterilizing respiratory and bronchoscopy equipment.
   • Conducting routine maintenance on respiratory devices.
   • Maintaining organized workspaces and records.
   • Answering calls professionally.
7. Follow safety and infection control protocols (5% of time):
   • Practicing universal precautions and proper waste disposal.
   • Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
   • Completing all mandatory annual training requirements.
8. Deliver exceptional service to patients and their families (10% of time):
   • Explaining therapies to patients prior to initiation.
   • Demonstrating courtesy and respect towards patients, families, and colleagues.
   • Upholding patient confidentiality.
9. Incorporate quality improvement practices into daily tasks (5% of time):
   • Assisting in data collection for reporting.
   • Completing documentation promptly and accurately.
   • Reporting quality issues to management.
10. Provide age-appropriate care across various patient demographics.
11. Deliver specialized care to high-risk patients as needed.

Job Specifications:

• Minimum Education: Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program preferred.
• Minimum Experience: Leadership skills are preferred.
• Licensure: Must be registered with the N.B.R.C and licensed in Missouri within six months of hire.
• Independent Action: Ability to provide high-quality therapy with moderate supervision and make independent decisions in various care settings.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to endure long hours of walking and standing, respond quickly in emergencies, and lift moderate weights.
• Working Conditions: Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and unpredictable situations.

Equipment Knowledge:

Familiarity with equipment used for therapy and diagnostic procedures is essential.

Vision Requirements:

Ability to adjust vision for varying light conditions.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Respiratory Care Practitioner - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
