Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A direct hire opportunity is available for an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join a leading 359-bed pediatric teaching hospital, recognized as one of the largest pediatric medical providers nationwide and the only pediatric medical center in the state. This dynamic facility offers a progressive, team-based environment committed to state-of-the-art patient care and a traveler-friendly culture.
Schedule:
- 8-hour day shifts
- Monday through Friday
- 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Compound and dispense medications as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with physician instructions.
- Consult with medical staff regarding potential drug interactions, patient histories, and appropriate medication use.
- Respond to patient inquiries about medications and dosing.
- Maintain comprehensive pharmacy records adhering to all regulatory and hospital protocols.
- Verify dose appropriateness based on patient diagnosis, age, weight, and body surface area.
- Identify and intervene in adverse drug reactions, allergies, therapeutic duplications, and drug interactions.
- Recommend cost-effective and efficacious drug therapies, including non-formulary evaluations.
- Ensure quality and proper labeling of all dispensed medications.
- Process medication orders efficiently and prioritize appropriately.
- Monitor patient outcomes to optimize therapeutic effectiveness and collaborate with healthcare providers.
- Participate in education and training for patients, staff, and students.
- Manage drug information requests and drug utilization reviews.
- Coordinate ordering and inventory management, including handling shortages and substitutions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Arkansas pharmacist license
- Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience
- IV therapy experience or IV certification
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) credential
