A reputable long-term care pharmacy is seeking a licensed Pharmacist for a 9-week contract opportunity in Veradale, WA. This role offers a dynamic work environment focusing on comprehensive medication management and patient care for a diverse population. Location: Veradale, WA
Contract Length: 9 weeks starting August 3
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, day and evening shifts
- Possible weekend rotations
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with all legal requirements
- Monitor patient medication compliance and address patterns of over-usage
- Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with meticulous attention to detail
- Counsel patients on medication usage, possible side effects, dosages, and drug interactions
- Provide additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on proper use and handling of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following strict procedural guidelines
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth daily operations
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy interns to optimize patient outcomes
- Identify and communicate drug-related problems to appropriate healthcare professionals
Qualifications:
- Washington state pharmacist license required (license must be in-hand)
- Pharmacists with retail experience are welcome; on-the-job training is available for retail pharmacists transitioning to long-term care
- Ability to perform PV1 and PV2 duties
