Quality Control Engineer supporting approximately 500 active power generation projects across Colorado.
Supports 20-25 Project Managers within Base Capital and implements QA/QC processes for high-risk projects at power plants.
Develop and review quality management plans, perform field inspections, monitor contractor work, ensure installation compliance to plans/specifications, support commissioning/startup activities, identify defects/non-conformances, perform walkdowns, audits and field reporting.
Designing or reviewing compliance and implementing inspection and testing procedures for materials and onsite services according to policies and procedures.
Monitoring project construction to identify defects, deviations, or non-conformities and implementing solutions to correct.
Collaborating with operations and maintenance teams, reliability engineers, and contractors to improve installation quality and standards.
Developing and/or maintaining quality management systems and conducting internal or external audits.
Reviewing and developing Quality Control plans used during project sourcing, planning, and execution according to policies and procedures.
Training employees on quality control procedures and best practices.
Coordinating or performing shop visits for critical inspections and hold points / factory acceptance testing.
Monitors quality of products and controls the efficiency of processes.
Investigates root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommend improvements by facilitating root cause analyses.
Highly collaborative environment supporting internal plant customers, project managers, operations personnel and contractors.
Review project plans, schedules and quality documentation
Update and support project-specific quality plans
Conduct site inspections, installation walkdowns and contractor oversight
Attend 7:00 AM plant POD meetings when onsite
Coordinate shop visits, testing activities and issue resolution
Track quality findings and support corrective actions
Standard full-time schedule, generally starting between 7:00-8:00 AM
Qualification:
Engineering degree required (Mechanical or Electrical preferred; Civil/Structural acceptable) or Construction Management degree
3-7 years of industrial, utility, oil & gas, power generation or similar experience
QA/QC experience including inspections, testing procedures and defect identification
Microsoft Office proficiency
Valid driver license and reliable transportation
Strong organization, prioritization, communication and self-directed work habits
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
Quality inspection background
Welding Inspector (CWI)
Lean Six Sigma or other Lean certifications
Quality Auditor certifications
Bluebeam, Procore experience

Utility, heavy industrial, manufacturing, civil or telecom experience
