Our organization is in search of a Board Eligible/Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to become part of a dynamic and high-volume practice in Des Moines, Iowa. • Currently 4 Surgeons, looking to add a 5th for expansion and innovation
• Advanced Practice Provider (APP) first call with inpatient rounding and clinic support
• 24/7 intensivist support in the Cardiothoracic Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU)
• Annual surgical case volume exceeding 1,000
• Chance to support and develop Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) programs
• Leaders in beating heart surgery, robotic heart surgery, minimally invasive valve procedures, ECMO, VAD, TAVR, and TEVAR
• Dedicated block time with 3 cardiovascular operating rooms, 1 hybrid room, and Da Vinci Xi/Si systems
• Utilization of EMR EPIC
• Involvement in General Surgery Residency education

• Compensation: $800,000 in Year 1, $825,000 in Year 2, and $850,000 in Year 3
• Recruitment bonus of $75,000 and $6,000 for Continuing Medical Education (CME)
• 5 weeks of annual time off (ATO)

The Iowa Heart Center, established in 1970, ranks among the largest cardiovascular, cardiology, and vascular practices in the nation, employing 44 physicians. Our specialties include Cardiovascular Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Advanced Heart Failure, Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and General Cardiology. With 8 primary locations and 15 outreach facilities across Iowa, we actively participate in STS Registries (adult, congenital, and anesthesia) and conduct over 10,000 cardiac interventions each year. Locally, we provide Vascular Surgery, Electrophysiology, Vein Center services, and Advanced Heart Failure support alongside General and Interventional Cardiology.
