Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract position as a full-time occupational therapist, supporting young learners for the entire 26/27 academic year. This opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about fostering growth and independence in children, with placements available in either a preschool or a K-8 developmental program. The role is based near Avondale, AZ, with a welcoming caseload of approximately 60 students and the advantage of supervising a dedicated certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA).
Your responsibilities will center on delivering evidence-based interventions within the school setting, collaborating with educators and families, and ensuring that each child receives personalized, compassionate support. You'll play a vital role in promoting functional skills so every student can thrive in their school environment.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Current, valid occupational therapist (OT) license
- Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
- Successful experience in school-based or pediatric OT settings is highly desirable
- Comfortable supervising and supporting a COTA
- Familiarity with IEP process, goal writing, and data collection to monitor student progress
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with educational teams
Primary duties:
- Deliver direct and consultative OT services in accordance with students’ IEPs
- Assess students’ functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans
- Supervise and collaborate with the onsite COTA to optimize care
- Communicate efficiently and compassionately with families, staff, and administrators
- Document progress, maintain records, and contribute to interdisciplinary team meetings
