Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting early childhood through second grade students as a school-based Occupational Therapist. Your expertise will make a meaningful impact, fostering development and independence in young learners within a collaborative and welcoming educational environment.
Your workday runs from 7:55 AM to 2:55 PM, Monday through Friday. The assignment spans the entire academic year, beginning August 17th and concluding June 3rd. This is an excellent chance to apply your OT skills with early learners in a supportive school community, with a varied caseload across Pre-K, Kindergarten, first, and second grade.
Key qualifications & experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapist license/certification
- Previous experience in a school setting or with pediatric populations is highly valued
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities to work with teachers, staff, and families
- Solid understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and creative intervention strategies
- Ability to adapt to the needs of diverse student populations
- COTAs are not eligible for this position
In this role, you will:
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and create individualized OT plans
- Provide targeted interventions and direct therapy services to support fine motor, sensory, and self-help skills
- Consult and collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to integrate OT strategies within the classroom
- Document progress, contribute to IEP meetings, and maintain clear communication with families
- Support students’ functional participation and independence throughout the school day
