Float Medical Assistant - Cardiology (Travel Between Clinics once/twice a month)

Location: San Antonio, TX (Home Base: Stone Oak 78258)
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay: $21/hour + Full-Time Benefits through Medix
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Start Date: ASAP



Position Overview

Medix is hiring a Float Medical Assistant to support a busy outpatient cardiology practice. This position is ideal for an experienced Medical Assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced clinical environment and is comfortable traveling between multiple clinic locations when needed.

The primary home base will be the Stone Oak 78258 clinic, with occasional travel to satellite clinics to provide coverage when providers are out or additional clinical support is needed. Travel is infrequent/rare but flexibility is required.



Schedule

  • Monday - Friday
  • 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • No weekends or major holidays

Satellite Clinics (As Needed)

Coverage may be required at the following locations:

  • San Antonio locations (Medical Center/NE 410/Quarry/La Cantera)
  • Boerne (Once a month)
  • Bulverde (Once a month)
  • Comfort (Once a month)
  • Hondo (Once a month)

This is a travel role. Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance are required.

***Mileage Reimbursement is offered when traveling***



Responsibilities:

  • Room patients and perform patient intake
  • Obtain and document vital signs and medical histories
  • Administer injections as ordered
  • Perform EKGs and assist with Holter monitor placement
  • Process medication refill requests
  • Complete prior authorizations
  • Prepare patient charts before appointments
  • Communicate laboratory results to patients
  • Maintain clinical inventory and exam room supplies
  • Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing and specialty referrals
  • Accurately document all patient information in the EMR
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment


Qualifications

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred
  • Previous outpatient Medical Assistant experience required
  • Cardiology experience is a plus
  • Experience with:
    • Patient rooming
    • Vital signs
    • EKGs
    • Injections
    • Prior authorizations
    • Medication refills
    • EMR documentation
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume clinic
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance required


Compensation & Benefits

  • $21/hour
  • Full-time hours (40 hours/week)

  • Opportunity to convert to a permanent employee after successful completion of the contract
