On Call, Call Back Requirements None
Weekend Rotation Every 3rd weekend
Holiday Requirements 1-2 per contract
Floating Requirements ED Holding (board patients waiting for an inpatient bed); Other ICU's (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU); MSU (Ratio-1:3); Sitter; PACU Surge
- 933-bed Level II Trauma Center
- Magnet Designated
- Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Level III NICU
- 30-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
- First-time travelers accepted with required experience

Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years of ICU experience
- At least 1 year of recent CVICU experience
Care for high-acuity cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgery patients, including:
- Immediate post-op CABG
- TAVR/TMVR
- Valve repairs and replacements
- Heart transplants
- Epicardial & transvenous pacemakers
- Esophagectomy
- Pneumonectomy
- Lobectomy
- AAA repair
- TEVAR
- Carotid endarterectomy
- 1:1 (critical patients)
- 1:2 (standard ICU)
- 1:3 (mixed acuity)
- Tech ratio: 1:8 10
- BLS
- ACLS
- CCRN preferred
Candidates must be proficient with:
- Swan-Ganz and arterial line monitoring
- Chest tubes
- Epicardial and transvenous pacemakers
- Ventilator and tracheostomy management
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Inotropes, vasopressors, sedatives, and paralytics
- Drawing blood from invasive lines (no peripheral sticks)
- EPIC EMR

- ECMO
- CVVH/CRRT
- IABP
- VAD/LVAD
- Dedicated CVICU Intensivist (24/7)
- CT Surgeon on call (24/7)
- General Intensivist (24/7)
- Hospitalist (24/7)
- ICU Respiratory Therapist (24/7)
- Charge Nurse (rarely takes patients)
- HUC available 24/7
- Phlebotomy support for peripheral blood draws
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
May float to:
- ED Holding
- Medical ICU (MICU)
- Surgical ICU (SICU)
- Cardiac ICU (CICU)
- Neuro ICU
- Medical-Surgical Unit (1:3 ratio)
- PACU Surge
- Sitter assignments
- 1-day orientation
- 2 4 hours of new employee orientation with supervisor/nurse educator
- Unit orientation with a preceptor
- 36 hours/week
- 12-hour nights (7 PM 7 AM)
- Every 3rd weekend
- No call
- 1 2 holidays per contract
- Up to 7 days RTO may be approved
- 6-week scheduling cycle
Fatigue Policy
Staff, including travelers, may not work:
- More than 60 hours per week
- More than five consecutive 12-hour shifts
- Professional solid-color scrubs (no logos or graphics)
- Free parking
- Days: Shuttle from remote lot (1 2 blocks away)
- Nights: Attached parking structure
