Leave of Absence & Workers' Compensation Specialist
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Leave of Absence (LOA) & Workers' Compensation Specialist to join our client's Human Resources team in Kearny Mesa. This is a 3-6 month temporary assignment with the potential to transition into a permanent position based on performance and business needs.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering employee leave programs, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA accommodations, pregnancy disability leave, personal leaves, and Workers' Compensation claims. You will serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, medical providers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, medical providers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
Job Responsibilities
- Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL), personal leaves, and military leave
- Manage Workers' Compensation claims from initial report through claim resolution
- Coordinate with employees, managers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and medical providers throughout the leave and claims process
- Review medical certifications and determine leave eligibility in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
- Track leave balances, return-to-work dates, and required documentation
- Facilitate the interactive process and coordinate reasonable accommodations under the ADA
- Process return-to-work releases and communicate work restrictions with management
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within the HRIS system
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave and Workers' Compensation regulations
- Prepare reports, monitor case activity, and support HR audits and compliance initiatives
- Educate employees and managers on leave policies, Workers' Compensation procedures, and available benefits
- Partner with Human Resources and leadership to resolve complex leave and accommodation issues
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience administering Leave of Absence and Workers' Compensation programs
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, Workers' Compensation, and California employment laws
- Experience working with HRIS systems, leave management platforms, and case management software
- Ability to manage multiple cases while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
- 3-6 month contract role, possibility to go permanent
- Onsite role
- Located in Kearny Mesa, San Diego
- Compensation: $30.00-$35.00 per hour DOE
- Monday- Friday 8:30am-5:30pm PST
