About a * Manufacturing Engineer *:
A Manufacturing Engineer works on the shop floor. This is a safety glasses, steel toe shoe, work gloves, laptop, calipers, soldering gun, needle nose pliers, forklift, dry-erase-marker kind of engineering job. You make things. You build things. You solve problems with your brain, your hands and your teammates. It’s an ideal place for a hands-on engineer working at the forefront of digital manufacturing, operating the world’s largest CNC based metal additive manufacturing machines, performing expert in-process inspections, making important decisions and documenting everything with the discipline of meticulous record keeping. The ideal candidate has strong discipline toward manufacturing protocols, strong teamworking abilities and good mechanical aptitude. This position requires constant collaboration with other team members for product quality assurance and meeting customer requirements.
Key information:
- Machines are used to produce metal products using hybrid additive manufacturing
- Machines perform metal additive deposition using MIG welding
- Machines perform multi-axis CNC cutting using a machining spindle
- Products include prototypes, test articles, build-to-print customer parts and production
- This is a 2nd shift position working Monday-Friday; 2:00pm to 11:00 pm
Job Responsibilities:
The Manufacturing Engineer Associate (ME Associate) shall operate machines to produce parts, repair and maintain machines, upgrade machines with additional process monitoring hardware and integrate machines from components. The ME Associate shall use engineering knowledge, project management tools and business acumen to achieve daily project performance and weekly status reporting. The position will report to the Production Manager.

- In-process inspections and dispositions
- Mentoring and coaching Technicians
- Understanding and performing production schedules
- Collecting and recording data to chart process history
- Engineering focus (40%)
- Problem solving to keep machines operational
- Equipment upgrades to machines and integration of new machines
- Continuous process improvements
- Interpreting drawings, specifications and engineering instructions
- Mounting, installing, configuring and operating sensors
- Sensors include temperature measurement, cameras and process monitoring devices
- Additional responsibilities (20%)
- Metal fabrication, welding, fixture design
- Mechanical assembly, part finishing
- MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Reports and technical presentations
- Some non-traditional functions as needed
Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen and pass background check
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience:
- Working in manufacturing production environment
- Engineering/manufacturing project execution
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook
- CNC machines or industrial robots
- MIG welding or additive manufacturing
- Experience with:
- CAD solid and surface modeling
- Reading and interpreting drawings / GD&T
- Project schedules or GANTT charts
- Demonstrated ability and accountability to safe work practices
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
