The Reading Guru, a boutique reading tutoring company, is hiring exceptional, part-time, Orton-Gillingham-trained reading tutors for in-person tutoring sessions in the Austin area. Applicants without Orton-Gillingham training AND experience will not be considered. We do not provide training.

\nDuties and Responsibilities:
\n- \n
- Plan and teach one-on-one, targeted, personalized, Orton-Gillingham literacy sessions for struggling readers, including those with dyslexia (ages 5 - high school, though most students are elementary-aged) \n
- Collaborate with clients’ classroom teachers, learning specialists, and other educational professionals to ensure students' educational goals \n
- Manage scheduling, write session notes, and correspond with parents through an online scheduling platform \n
Requirements:
\n- \n
- MUST HAVE significant multisensory Orton Gillingham-based training (i.e. AOGPE, Wilson, Barton, Lindamood Bell, IMSE, Lexercise, etc.). \n
- Minimum of one year experience teaching OG lessons one-on-one, in a small group, or classroom setting \n
- At least one year of experience working with dyslexic students \n
- Four-year college degree \n
- Must live in Austin or surrounding suburbs and be able to commit to sessions at least twice a week \n
- Excellent communication and customer service skills \n
- A positive, patient, professional, and collaborative attitude \n
- Recognition of the relationship between social-emotional learning and academic performance \n
- Ability to make sessions fun, engaging, and productive \n
- Ability to tailor sessions to meet individual students’ needs, interests, and personalities \n
- Willingness to submit to a background check \n
- Must be available to tutor either during the afternoons and evenings or on the weekends \n
Pay and Perks:
\n- \n
- $60-65 per hour to start \n
- Extremely flexible schedule \n
- Sessions can occur in a central location (tutor's home, library, or office with students traveling to meet the tutor) \n
