Job Description

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 1

Hours: 8:45am – 11:45am (15 hours per week)

\n

We are seeking a caring and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for a Year 1 pupil with general Special Educational Needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to help the pupil access learning and participate fully in classroom activities.
  • \n
  • Work closely with the class teacher to implement tailored learning strategies and interventions.
  • \n
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in lessons.
  • \n
  • Support the pupil's social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • \n
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs where required.
  • \n
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • \n
  • Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • \n

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children in a primary school setting.
  • \n
  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs and inclusive classroom practices.
  • \n
  • Patient, nurturing, and supportive approach.
  • \n
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • \n
  • Flexible and proactive attitude.
  • \n
