SEMH Cover Supervisor
Job Description
Are you an experienced HLTA, Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, or Education Professional looking for flexible work within specialist education settings?
\nWe are seeking confident and adaptable HLTAs and Cover Supervisors to support a range of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provisions across Norfolk on short-term and temporary contracts.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for individuals who thrive in alternative education environments and are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
The Role\nWorking within specialist SEMH settings, you will support students aged 11-16 years who may present with additional emotional, behavioural, and social needs.
\nResponsibilities may include:

- Supervising classes in the absence of a teacher. \n
- Delivering pre-planned lessons and activities. \n
- Providing pastoral support and mentoring to students. \n
- Supporting positive behaviour management strategies. \n
- Building professional and trusting relationships with young people. \n
- Encouraging engagement, confidence, and participation in learning. \n
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. \n
- Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams. \n
- Maintaining a safe, structured, and positive learning environment. \n
We are looking for candidates who:

- Have experience working with young people in education, youth work, care, or SEMH settings. \n
- Are confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner. \n
- Can quickly build positive professional relationships with students and staff. \n
- Have excellent communication and classroom management skills. \n
- Are resilient, reliable, and adaptable. \n
- Understand the importance of safeguarding and professional boundaries. \n
- Hold HLTA status, Cover Supervisor experience, or a strong background supporting young people. \n
