Associate Geotechnical Tailings Engineer - LondonSalary: £70,000 - £90,000 + Benefits
\nAn excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Geotechnical Tailings Engineer to join a leading international engineering consultancy in London. This role is ideal for an experienced geotechnical professional looking to take on a technical leadership position, delivering major mining and tailings projects across the UK and internationally.
\nYou will play a key role in the design and assessment of tailings storage facilities, mine waste infrastructure and water retaining structures, working alongside multidisciplinary teams on complex and high-profile projects. This position offers the opportunity to lead projects, mentor engineers and contribute to the continued growth of an established dams and tailings team.
\nThe role will involve:

- Leading the design and assessment of tailings storage facilities and associated geotechnical infrastructure \n
- Delivering geotechnical analysis including slope stability, seepage, foundation and earthworks design \n
- Managing projects from feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction support \n
- Producing high-quality technical reports, design documentation and engineering calculations \n
- Reviewing ground investigation data and developing geotechnical models \n
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers \n
- Managing client relationships and supporting business development activities \n
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across international mining projects \n
- Undertaking occasional site visits and inspections where required \n
The ideal candidate will have:

- A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline \n
- Chartered Engineer status (or be working towards chartership) \n
- Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally with exposure to tailings facilities, dams or mining infrastructure \n
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical design principles, including slope stability, seepage and earthworks \n
- Experience using industry-standard software such as GeoStudio (Slope/W, Seep/W), PLAXIS or similar \n
- Willingness to travel for project work when required \n
