Mechanical Fitter
Job Description
The Mechanical Fitter responsible for planned and reactive maintenance of fixed plant equipment across the Devon Ball Clays operations, ensuring maximum plant reliability and minimal downtime. Working closely with supervisors and the maintenance team, you'll support fault finding, equipment installations, maintenance planning and continuous improvement projects while maintaining high health, safety and environmental standards.

\nMechanical maintenance & breakdown response
\n\n- \n
- Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on fixed plant, including mills, conveyors, fans, filters and packaging systems \n
- Fault finding and resolving mechanical issues to minimise downtime \n
- Supporting installation, commissioning and modification of equipment \n
Planning & site coordination
\n\n- \n
- Working with Plant Supervisors to plan access, shutdowns and maintenance activities \n
- Ordering and managing spares to support planned work \n
- Recording work completed and contributing to root cause analysis \n
Safety, quality & compliance
\n- \n
- Working in line with Imerys Safe Working Rules and site procedures \n
- Maintaining clean, safe and organised work areas \n
- Supporting compliance with EHSQ requirements at all times \n
Profile
\nEssential
\n\n- \n
- Mechanical fitting experience within an industrial or processing environment \n
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent apprenticeship) \n
- Experience carrying out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs \n
- Strong health, safety and environmental awareness \n
- Valid license to drive in the UK \n
Desirable
\n\n- \n
- Experience with packaging systems \n
- Mobile plant or access certification (e.g. forklift, work platforms) \n
- Welding experience (training can be provided) \n
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) \n

- Salary: up to £33,115.61 DOE \n
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week \n
