Location: Thatcham, BerkshireSalary: Up to £52,000 (with flexibility for exceptional candidates)Shift Pattern: Rotating 3-shift pattern (6-2 / 10-6 / 2-10)

Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer | Manufacturing

\n

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join a successful and well-established manufacturing business based in Thatcham.

\n

Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for providing both planned and reactive maintenance support across a range of automated production and packaging equipment. This role would suit a proactive engineer looking to further develop their career within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance activities across the site
  • \n
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and carry out effective fault finding to minimise downtime
  • \n
  • Maintain and repair a variety of automated production machinery and control systems
  • \n
  • Diagnose faults on:\n
      \n
    • PLC-controlled equipment
    • \n
    • AC/DC drives and motors
    • \n
    • Servo drive systems
    • \n
    • Inverters
    • \n
    • Single and three-phase electrical systems
    • \n
  • \n
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • \n
  • Monitor equipment performance, downtime and overall efficiency
  • \n
  • Drive continuous improvement and fault prevention initiatives
  • \n
  • Record maintenance activities using a CMMS system
  • \n
  • Support machine upgrades, refurbishments and improvement projects
  • \n
  • Assist with developing operator knowledge and equipment understanding
  • \n
  • Contribute to site engineering and capital projects
  • \n

What We're Looking For

\n
    \n
  • Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent
  • \n
  • Multi-skilled engineering background with a strong electrical bias
  • \n
  • Experience working within manufacturing, production, FMCG, packaging or a similar industrial environment
  • \n
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • \n
  • Knowledge of PLCs, drives, motors and industrial electrical systems
  • \n
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a logical approach to maintenance
  • \n
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • \n
  • Positive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset
  • \n

  • 18th Edition qualification
  • \n
  • Time-served apprenticeship
  • \n
  • 5+ years' post-apprenticeship experience
  • \n
\n
