The successful candidate will become an integral part of the workshop operation, supporting the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of a diverse fleet of hire equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem-solving and working within a collaborative technical environment.Your Roles and Responsibilities:While in this position your duties may include but will not be limited to:\n

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting faults across a wide range of hire equipment within the workshop
  • \n
  • Stripping down, repairing and rebuilding chillers, pumps, motors, heat exchangers and associated mechanical equipment
  • \n
  • Replacing faulty components and carrying out repairs to ensure equipment meets operational and quality standards
  • \n
  • Supporting the refurbishment programme to maximise the lifespan and reliability of the hire fleet
  • \n
  • Conducting inspections and testing to ensure repaired equipment is fully operational before returning to service
  • \n
  • Maintaining accurate service records and workshop documentation
  • \n
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete repairs
  • \n
  • Ensuring workshop housekeeping is maintained to a high standard while adhering to all health and safety procedures
  • \n
  • Working closely with colleagues across the workshop and wider engineering teams to support operational priorities
  • \n
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workshop efficiency and equipment performance
  • \n
What You Will Need to Apply: The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience working within a workshop, mechanical engineering, plant maintenance or equipment repair environment, with strong practical skills and a passion for engineering. Applicants should demonstrate experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment, alongside the ability to confidently use a range of hand and power tools. A methodical approach to fault finding and strong problem-solving skills will be essential. A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification or a completed engineering apprenticeship would be highly advantageous, as would previous experience working with HVAC, refrigeration or industrial equipment. An F-Gas Category 3 qualification would also be beneficial, although this is not essential. Candidates should possess basic IT skills and be comfortable updating maintenance records using computer systems. Excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team will also be important. The successful individual will be reliable, safety-conscious and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.
