Hours: 7:30am - 4pm, Monday - Friday

Salary: £30- £40k DOE

The Role\n

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fabrication Workshop Manager to lead operations within a busy manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing fabrication activities, ensuring high-quality production, and driving efficiency across the workshop.

You will play a key role in delivering production targets, maintaining safety standards, and developing a high-performing team, while supporting ongoing business growth.

Key Responsibilities\n

Workshop & Production Management

  • Oversee daily fabrication and production activities to meet delivery schedules
  • \n
  • Coordinate welding, fabrication, and assembly operations
  • \n
  • Monitor workflow and ensure build targets and deadlines are achieved
  • \n
  • Allocate labour and resources effectively across the workshop
  • \n
  • Drive improvements in productivity and output
  • \n

Team Leadership

\n
    \n
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of fabricators, welders, and operatives
  • \n
  • Conduct regular team briefings and toolbox talks
  • \n
  • Manage performance, attendance, and training needs
  • \n
  • Support development of multi-skilled teams and mentor junior staff
  • \n
\n

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations and procedures
  • \n
  • Promote safe working practices including use of PPE and equipment
  • \n
  • Conduct risk assessments and support incident investigations
  • \n
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across the workshop
  • \n

Quality & Standards

  • Ensure all work meets engineering specifications and quality requirements
  • \n
  • Carry out inspections and support quality control processes
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively to resolve fabrication issues
  • \n
  • Drive right-first-time manufacturing and reduce rework
  • \n

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process and workflow improvements
  • \n
  • Reduce downtime, waste, and inefficiencies
  • \n
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives
  • \n
  • Monitor key performance metrics
  • \n
\n

Equipment & Maintenance

\n
    \n
  • Ensure fabrication equipment and machinery are maintained and operational
  • \n
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules
  • \n
  • Manage tooling, consumables, and material requirements
  • \n
\n

Planning & Communication

\n
    \n
  • Liaise with internal teams including engineering, planning, and production
  • \n
  • Provide updates on progress and production status
  • \n
  • Support production planning and capacity management
  • \n
Skills & Experience\n

Essential:

\n
    \n
  • Strong background in fabrication and welding within a manufacturing environment
  • \n
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • \n
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • \n
  • Knowledge of MIG welding and structural fabrication
  • \n
  • Experience managing production schedules and KPIs
  • \n
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • \n
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices
  • \n

Desirable:

  • Experience within vehicle, trailer, or heavy engineering manufacturing

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
