Job Description
Role: Mechanical Site Engineer – Utility Scale Solar Location: Northamptonshire / Bedfordshire Mint Selection are partnered with a leading EPC contractor delivering utility-scale solar projects across the UK and are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Site Engineer to support the successful delivery of a major ground-mounted solar PV project. We are looking to speak with Mechanical Site Engineers who have a proven track record of delivering large-scale solar projects, with experience managing mechanical subcontractors, driving quality standards and supporting construction through to mechanical completion and handover. Scope of Work * Support the safe and successful delivery of a large utility-scale solar PV project, ensuring works are completed in line with programme, quality and HSEQ requirements. * Manage and coordinate mechanical subcontractors throughout the construction phase. * Supervise the installation of piling, mounting structures, trackers (where applicable) and PV module installation. * Carry out quality inspections, ensuring all works are completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings and industry standards. * Manage QA/QC processes including ITPs, inspections, snagging, NCRs and close-out documentation. * Produce daily and weekly progress reports, highlighting programme updates, risks and key milestones. * Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, Civil, Electrical and Commissioning teams to ensure efficient project delivery. * Attend and contribute to site progress meetings with subcontractors and key stakeholders. * Monitor productivity, identify construction issues and implement solutions to maintain programme. * Support mechanical completion, commissioning activities and project handover. Experience to be Considered * Proven experience working as a Mechanical Site Engineer, Mechanical Supervisor or similar on utility-scale solar PV projects. * Previous experience managing mechanical subcontractors on large construction projects. * Strong understanding of ground-mounted solar installation including piling, mounting systems, trackers and module installation. * Experience managing QA/QC processes, inspections, ITPs, snagging and NCRs. * Ability to produce clear and accurate site progress reports and communicate effectively with project stakeholders. * Strong knowledge of CDM regulations, HSEQ standards and construction best practice. * CSCS card essential, with SMSTS or SSSTS highly desirable. * Full UK driving licence. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading EPC contractor delivering major utility-scale renewable energy projects across the UK. This is an initial 6 month contract opportunity and falls Outside IR35.
