Associate Geotechnical Tailings Engineer - London Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 + Benefits An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Geotechnical Tailings Engineer to join a leading international engineering consultancy in London. This role is ideal for an experienced geotechnical professional looking to take on a technical leadership position, delivering major mining and tailings projects across the UK and internationally. You will play a key role in the design and assessment of tailings storage facilities, mine waste infrastructure and water retaining structures, working alongside multidisciplinary teams on complex and high-profile projects. This position offers the opportunity to lead projects, mentor engineers and contribute to the continued growth of an established dams and tailings team. The role will involve: Leading the design and assessment of tailings storage facilities and associated geotechnical infrastructure Delivering geotechnical analysis including slope stability, seepage, foundation and earthworks design Managing projects from feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction support Producing high-quality technical reports, design documentation and engineering calculations Reviewing ground investigation data and developing geotechnical models Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers Managing client relationships and supporting business development activities Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across international mining projects Undertaking occasional site visits and inspections where requiredThe ideal candidate will have: A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline Chartered Engineer status (or be working towards chartership) Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally with exposure to tailings facilities, dams or mining infrastructure Strong knowledge of geotechnical design principles, including slope stability, seepage and earthworks Experience using industry-standard software such as GeoStudio (Slope/W, Seep/W), PLAXIS or similar Willingness to travel for project work when requiredThis is an excellent opportunity to join a globally recognised engineering consultancy working on technically challenging mining and tailings projects.
