Sourcing SpecialistLocation: NewcastleContract duration: 12 monthsStart date: ASAPPay rate: 22 - 24 pound per hourSummaryThe Commodity Buyer will support Procurement Lead executing Procurement Priorities in line with business goals and initiatives controlling the whole supply cycle (request for quote, negotiation, PO placement and order fulfilment). In this role you will use your experience and/or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short term initiatives and long term departmental improvements.Roles and Responsibilities:Negotiate best cost & delivery, with suppliers; place and follow up on POs for assigned commoditiesManage effective working relationships with suppliers for PO executionManage problems and schedule changes to ensure on time deliveryUpdate ERP to ensure accurate planningDevelops new solutions under guidance and/or in a team settingBalance both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost and lead time reductionWorks together with high level individuals within the businessWork with Commodity Buyers on technical and commercial developments to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledgeActively participate in supplier performance reviewsContribute to project as a team member or leads small projectsManage the wing to wing procurement activities for assigned commodities. Apply sourcing policy, interface between supplier and entity with respect to specifications and budgets. Requires developed and strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.Required Qualifications:Bachelors degree from an accredited college or universityExperience as a Commodity Buyer, within an Engineering or Manufacturing environment.A demonstrable technical mindset and approach with attention to detail.Strong oral and written communication skillsAbility to work independently, motivate and influence othersAbility to cope with multiple complex situations dailyGreat problem-solving skills.Negotiation expertiseFluent in English (spoken and written)Desired Characteristics:Previous experience of commodity and engineered polymers and/or high-grade metals.Project management, technical and /or materials experience.A recognized professional and/or academic qualification. e.g. MCIPSExperience of a manufacturing / engineering environment, Oil and Gas sector is preferred but not essential.TPBN1_UKTJ
