JR333: Transport SupervisorLocation: Purton, Wiltshire Salary: £36,819.46 per annumOverview:First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking a Transport Supervisor to join their team in Purton.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport or logistics professional to take on a key supervisory role within a busy operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of transport activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, improving operational efficiency, and leading a team of drivers to deliver a safe and reliable service.Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure full compliance with transport, environmental, and health & safety regulations, including tachograph management, vehicle defect reporting, and company policies.
\n
• Support the planning and optimisation of daily vehicle routes to maximise efficiency, minimise downtime, and ensure timely completion of collections and deliveries.
\n
• Monitor driver performance and productivity, providing coaching and support while addressing underperformance where necessary.
\n
• Conduct investigations relating to vehicle accidents, incidents, and staff conduct, ensuring accurate reporting and appropriate follow-up actions.
\n
• Oversee operational standards across vehicles, sites, and equipment, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and availability of resources.
\n
• Maintain accurate transport documentation and operational records in line with legal and company requirements.
\n
• Support credit control processes and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
\n
• Work closely with transport coordinators, depot management, drivers, and other internal teams to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
\n
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure high standards of customer service are maintained at all times.
\n

Skills and Qualifications:

\n
• Previous experience within transport, logistics, fleet operations, or distribution, ideally in a supervisory or team leadership position.
\n
• Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and optimise vehicle scheduling.
\n
• Good understanding of transport compliance, driver regulations, and health & safety requirements.
\n
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across multiple teams.
\n
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to resolve queries and maintain positive client relationships.
\n
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing documentation and compliance records.
\n
• Competent IT skills, including experience with transport management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
\n
• A proactive approach with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
\n
• Full UK driving licence desirable.
