Job Description
Our organization is in search of a dynamic, collaborative, and visionary academic leader to take on the role of Chief of the Division of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics & Gynecology (ASGOG). This position will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Applicants must hold board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology, actively engage in clinical practice, and exhibit excellence in various areas including clinical care, leadership, mentorship, education, quality improvement, scholarship, and administrative accomplishments. The Chief will oversee one of the largest and most diverse divisions within the department, managing academic specialist faculty while ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical care, enhancing educational initiatives, encouraging scholarship, and nurturing a culture of equity, inclusion, and professional excellence.

Division HighlightsThe largest division within the department, comprising academic specialists in general obstetrics and gynecology, family planning, complex benign gynecology/minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, and advanced practice clinicians.
A broad clinical presence across various settings including ambulatory, inpatient, surgical, and community practices.
Leadership in core services such as inpatient obstetrics, ambulatory obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic surgery, family planning, and complex contraception.
Strong collaborations with residency and medical school educational programs.
Active involvement in quality and safety initiatives, multidisciplinary care, and ongoing clinical improvement.
Act as the academic and clinical leader of the ASGOG Division, responsible for strategic direction, operational management, and faculty development.
Provide visionary leadership with a strong understanding of clinical, business, and marketing strategies, focusing on growth, workforce development, and service-line expansion.
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, retention, and performance evaluation of physician and advanced practice clinician faculty.
Encourage a culture of excellence, professionalism, accountability, collaboration, and psychological safety across all clinical sites.
Develop and execute strategic plans that align with the department's mission, vision, and values.
Continuously monitor, assess, and adapt to national trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure the division remains innovative and competitive.
Collaborate with the Chair, Vice Chair of Clinical Services, and Chief Administrative Officer to ensure the division's financial stability through effective resource allocation and fiscal management.
Ensure and support high-quality clinical care across various settings including ambulatory practices, inpatient units, operating rooms, and community locations.
Collaborate with leaders in obstetrics, gynecology, surgery, family planning, and inpatient obstetrics to enhance patient flow, access, and clinical performance.
Support the development and expansion of clinical operations and outreach programs in alignment with departmental objectives.
Where applicable, oversee or collaborate with specialty sections such as Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecology, Complex Family Planning, and Complex Benign Gynecology/Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, as well as other subspecialty divisions.
Guide and support faculty in educational leadership roles, including residency and clerkship directors, continuity clinic directors, and core teaching faculty.
Foster an exceptional teaching environment for medical students, residents, and fellows by modeling best practices in supervision, bedside teaching, and skill development.
Encourage and assess faculty development in areas such as academic promotion, teaching excellence, leadership, and professional growth, in collaboration with the Vice Chair of Academic Affairs.
Support the integration of innovative educational strategies and curricula.
Enhance relationships across various health and educational institutions, community practices, and regional partners.
Provide strategic leadership for the growth and expansion of clinical operations and outreach programs throughout Central Massachusetts.
Represent the division in institutional committees and national organizations.
Act as an ambassador for the division and department in both state and national contexts.
A comprehensive academic department featuring divisions of academic specialists, maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, reproductive endocrinology & infertility, along with fellowships in MFM and Urogynecology.
A robust OB-GYN residency program with six new residents each year and a strong medical school teaching environment.
An inpatient obstetrics center recognized as a major regional referral center, handling over 5,000 deliveries annually.
Active engagement in perinatal quality initiatives through the state's Perinatal and Neonatal Quality Improvement Network and internal multidisciplinary efforts.

Board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Active clinical practice in obstetrics and gynecology.
Eligibility for faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
Proven leadership experience in academic medicine, clinical program development, medical education, and/or health system operations.
