Position Overview:
This role involves conducting diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound technology to assess tissues and body structures, ensuring high-quality images for analysis. The only certification needed for this position is as a registered sonographer relevant to the specific department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and adjust all necessary equipment, manually positioning transducers for examinations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and execute quality control measures.
- Conduct both routine and advanced studies, assisting in various imaging tasks.
- Identify significant structures, artifacts, pathologies, and limitations of equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and report any issues to the appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment when necessary.
- Promptly submit high-quality images and documentation to PACS, ensuring proper labeling and patient history.
- Help maintain a clean and organized department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
- Comply with all regulatory standards.
- Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- Completion of a Sonography program.
Experience:
- No prior experience necessary.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly standing and walking.
- Frequent use of vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
- Regularly using hearing and speech for effective communication.
- Frequent auditory skills to detect body sounds and alarms from equipment.
- Regular lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent patient handling.
- Regular reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
- Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional color vision tasks.
- Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of limbs.
- Rarely kneeling or sitting.
Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- And one of the following:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
