Work Hours: 8am- 4:30pm (Monday- Friday) \n

\nResponsible for managing Burn Services Outreach Educational and Injury Prevention programs by providing program design, implementation, and evaluation of program initiatives.\n
\n
\nMINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS\n
\n
\nEducation:\n
\n
    \n
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • \n
\n
\nExperience:\n
\n
    \n
  • Must have four years of progressive burn nursing experience.
  • \n
\n
\nEquivalent Experience:\n
\n
    \n
  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
  • \n
\n
\nCertification/Registration/Licensure:\n
\n
    \n
  • Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing, or valid Compact RN license.
  • \n
  • Must have current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from one of the following:\n
      \n
    • American Heart Association
    • \n
    • American Red Cross
    • \n
    • Military Training Network
    • \n
  • \n
  • Must have current Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification on hire or placement in role. Certification must be from one of the following:\n
      \n
    • American Heart Association
    • \n
    • American Red Cross
    • \n
    • Military Training Network
    • \n
  • \n
  • Must have certification in Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS), or obtain within 6 months of hire or placement in the role.
  • \n
  • Must maintain an instructor status in ABLS or obtain within 18 months of hire or placement in the role.
  • \n
\n
\nSkills or Special Abilities:\n
\n
    \n
  • Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
  • \n
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with professional nursing staff, medical staff and allied health professionals attending classes.
  • \n
  • Must have superior writing skills to compose course outlines, objectives and manuals.
  • \n
  • Must demonstrate competence in technical skills and knowledge related to the Burn Program.
  • \n
  • Must be organized and creative in the educational process for both individual and large group classes.
  • \n
  • Must have exemplary clinical skills in Burn Care.
  • \n
  • Must be able to develop a positive, cooperative working relationship with community burn providers.
  • \n
  • Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
  • \n
