Summary:

Trinity School is a PreK3 through 8th grade co-educational Catholic independent school rooted in Gospel values and affiliated with the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Trinity’s PreKindergarten program fosters a love of learning in an environment that supports each child’s academic, social, and spiritual development. Trinity School seeks a nurturing, collaborative, and mission-driven educator to serve as a PreKindergarten Teacher working with 4-year-old students. The teacher will create a developmentally appropriate, student-centered classroom environment that supports early childhood learning through play, inquiry, and exploration, while fostering the academic, social-emotional, and spiritual growth of young learners.

Essential Job Duties:

Instructional Practice & Student Learning
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with early childhood best practices and Trinity School curriculum
• Incorporates play-based, inquiry-driven learning experiences that promote exploration, creativity, and problem-solving
• Uses whole group and small group instruction to support student engagement and learning
• Differentiates instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Uses observation, documentation, and developmentally appropriate assessment strategies to guide instruction and support individual growth
• Prepares report card comments and communicates student progress

Classroom Culture & Student Development
• Creates a nurturing, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student well-being and belonging
• Designs and maintains an engaging classroom environment that encourages independence, exploration, and student choice
• Implements effective classroom management strategies appropriate for early childhood learners
• Supports the social, emotional, and behavioral development of students
• Encourages curiosity and fosters student voice in the learning process
• Promotes respect for diversity and creates an inclusive learning community
• Supervises students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties

Communication & Family Partnership
• Maintains timely and professional communication with parents/guardians regarding student development and classroom activities
• Conducts parent-teacher conferences and supports family engagement in the learning process

Collaboration & Professional Engagement
• Collaborates with colleagues, specialists, and administrators to support student success
• Participates in faculty meetings, professional development, retreats, and school committees
• Engages in ongoing professional growth in early childhood education
• Engages in reflective practice to continuously improve instruction and support student growth
• Contributes positively to the school community and supports the mission of Trinity School
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
    • Experience teaching in a preschool, prekindergarten, or early childhood setting
    • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
    • Completion of required training in accordance with federal, state, and school regulations

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certification
    • Experience in a Catholic or independent school setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
    • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and assist young children as needed
    • Must be able to perform routine classroom and supervisory duties

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: Commensurate with experience. This represents Trinity School’s good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Additional Notes:

The successful candidate will be required to complete and pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check and MSDE employment history review.
