Job Description

Medical Assistant - Urgent Care

This is a fast-paced Urgent Care Medical Assistant position where you'll be working directly with providers to treat patients with a wide variety of illnesses and injuries. Every day is different, so it's a great fit for someone who enjoys staying busy and likes seeing a mix of patients rather than working in one specialty.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Rooming patients, taking vital signs, documenting medical histories, and preparing patients for the provider.
  • Performing clinical skills like phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection, injections (where state regulations allow), and assisting with minor procedures.
  • Helping triage patients by gathering information and determining the urgency of their visit before the provider sees them.
  • Educating patients on medications, discharge instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Documenting everything accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Working closely with providers, nurses, and the rest of the clinical team to keep patient flow moving efficiently throughout the day.

Schedule

  • Three 12-hour shifts per week (full-time).
  • Clinic hours are 8:00 AM-8:00 PM, but you'll stay until the last patient has been seen if needed.
  • The clinics are open 7 days a week, so candidates need flexibility to work weekdays and rotating weekends.

What They're Looking For

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA).
  • At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Comfortable performing clinical skills independently (vitals, phlebotomy, injections, EKGs, etc.).
  • Urgent care or emergency department experience is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This is a high-volume, fast-paced urgent care where teamwork is extremely important. They're looking for someone who can multitask, communicate well, stay calm under pressure, and provide excellent customer service to patients.
