- Experience required with critical care patients, Hamilton ventilators, bedside bronchoscopy, Level II nursery with NRP credentials, and ER respiratory therapy modalities
- Work Location: Our facility in Mount Vernon
- Sign-On Bonus: A two-year service commitment is necessary; eligibility is limited to external qualified candidates

Compensation Range: $29.46 - $44.19
Pay Rate Type: Hourly

Position Overview:
This role involves evaluating and providing care for patients requiring respiratory therapy, as well as administering prescribed therapeutic services.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate patients to determine the appropriate type and frequency of treatment, developing a care plan based on their diagnosis.
- Deliver respiratory care services in line with specific physician orders, departmental policies, and established guidelines.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans and equipment, documenting and communicating patient conditions effectively. Perform advanced respiratory care techniques.
- Assess respiratory practices, medication administration, and treatment effectiveness based on patient outcomes.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions and available community support resources.
- Assist in the care, calibration, and maintenance of all equipment, ensuring departmental inventory levels are maintained. Follow established cleaning and sterilization protocols for equipment.
- Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and operate safely.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience and education.
EXPERIENCE
- No prior experience is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly use speech for effective oral communication.
- Consistently stand and walk.
- Frequently lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
- Engage in frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry.
- Utilize vision and depth perception for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, as well as color differentiation.
- Regularly use smell to identify and recognize odors.
- Frequently use hearing to receive oral communication and detect body sounds or alarms.
- Occasionally lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
- Occasionally assist in lifting/moving patients.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive movements with feet/legs and hands/arms.
- Occasionally drive.
- Rarely crawl or run.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Location: Illinois
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- And
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Or
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- And
- Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
