Full-time position with a Day Shift schedule available.
Shifts: 7 AM – 7 PM, with varying days, every third weekend, and holiday requirements; no on-call duties.

Position Overview:

This role involves delivering direct nursing care in line with the established policies, procedures, and protocols of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employs medical-surgical nursing standards to enhance the quality of care and life for patients, families, and significant others by systematically assessing the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices.
  • Builds effective relationships and advocates for patients, families, and significant others to develop personalized care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to create and execute care plans, gather assessment data for each patient, establish appropriate nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, implement interventions, and evaluate results.
  • Formulates assessment and management strategies considering the physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure aspects of human responses to health issues.
  • Demonstrates understanding of how actual or potential illnesses affect each patient’s physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure status.
  • Exhibits leadership by coordinating and collaborating with patients, families, significant others, communities, and interprofessional team members to assess needs, set goals, plan interventions, provide care, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Engages in effective communication with patients, families, significant others, and healthcare providers to facilitate collaborative decision-making that is culturally sensitive, ethical, legal, holistic, informed, compassionate, and humane, while considering available economic resources.
  • Educates patients, families, and significant others on measures that promote, maintain, and restore health or enhance comfort.
  • Encourages a healthy work environment by serving as a mentor and role model for nursing colleagues, students, and others.
  • Applies evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in healthcare to medical-surgical nursing, ensuring care is tailored to the patient’s age-specific and clinical needs as outlined in the department’s Scope of Service.
  • Maintains a constant state of alertness and operates safely.
  • May conduct point-of-care testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school or equivalent educational background for licensing.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a registered nurse.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly uses speech for oral communication.
  • Constantly stands and walks.
  • Frequently lifts, carries, and pushes/pulls objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Regularly sits, reaches, and uses a keyboard for data entry.
  • Frequently utilizes vision and depth perception for close (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, as well as color recognition.
  • Regularly uses smell to identify odors.
  • Frequently uses hearing to receive oral communication and detect body sounds or alarms.
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, and pushes/pulls objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasionally assists in lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasionally bends, stoops, kneels, squats, twists, grips, and performs repetitive movements with feet/legs and hands/arms.
  • Occasionally drives.
  • Rarely crawls or runs.
