Job Overview:

This role involves providing patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician, while adhering to the limits of your professional license.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Assist in evaluating patients and ensure their overall well-being.
  • Administer medications and monitor patients for any adverse reactions to treatments.
  • Conduct laboratory tests and provide therapeutic services.
  • Inform patients and their families about treatment plans, including self-care after discharge, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care.
  • Document the healthcare provider's interactions with patients, including diagnoses, symptoms, discharge instructions, and prescriptions as directed.
  • Transcribe patient orders for laboratory tests, radiology, and medications. Ensure patient charts are updated with results from labs, x-rays, or other assessments, and monitor the availability of data to support treatment decisions.
  • Record consultations or discussions with family members and/or the patient’s private physician or on-call physician.
  • Maintain a state of alertness and operate safely at all times.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program or possess equivalent educational qualifications for licensing.

EXPERIENCE

  • No prior experience is necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly use speech for effective oral communication.
  • Consistently stand and walk.
  • Frequently lift, carry, and push/pull items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Regularly sit, reach, and engage in data entry.
  • Frequently utilize vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, as well as to identify and differentiate colors.
  • Regularly use smell to recognize odors.
  • Frequently rely on hearing to receive verbal communication and detect body sounds or alarms.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasionally assist in lifting or moving patients.
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive movements with legs and arms.
  • Occasionally drive.
  • Rarely crawl or run.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

For Illinois:

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

For Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin:

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Nurse Licensure issued by Compact State
