Job Summary:
Insight Global is seeking a 2nd Shift (3pm - 11pm) CNC Programmer to join their client’s team in Greenville, SC. This role focuses on shop support, and process development for large-scale machining equipment. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for creating and validating CNC programs, supporting shop operations, and driving process improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position requires strong hands-on machining expertise, the ability to troubleshoot and optimize CNC processes, and experience working with complex parts and materials commonly used in gas turbine or aerospace industries.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, generate, and maintain CNC programs using NX CAM or similar software
- Support programming and process development for large machines (VTL, VBM, 5-axis gantry, turn/grind)
- Verify CNC programs using Vericut prior to shop floor release
- Implement Renishaw probing cycles for validation and error detection
- Provide operator training and support during machine startups and process improvements
- Troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues on the shop floor
- Support tooling and fixturing requirements for CNC machines
- Create and maintain workstation instructions for machining processes
- Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives (safety, quality, cost, delivery)
- Collaborate effectively within a matrixed team environment
Must Have Skillsets:
- 4+ years of experience with graphical-based CAM system CNC programming
- Hands-on experience with Siemens NX CAM
- Experience with multi-axis machining (milling, turning, grinding, EDM)
- Ability to verify CNC programs using simulation tools (e.g., Vericut)
- Strong troubleshooting skills in CNC programming and machining processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Solid shop math skills (geometry and trigonometry)
Plusses:
- Experience creating complex 5-axis CNC programs (NX preferred)
- Experience with Renishaw probing, macro programming, and closed-loop machining (CLM)
- Hands-on machinist background with ability to set up and prove out first-piece programs
- Experience machining large parts on VTLs/VBMs (up to 2.5m)
- Experience machining nickel-based superalloys (Inconel, Rene, Hastelloy)
- Familiarity with multiple CNC controls (Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Siemens)
- Experience in gas turbine or aerospace manufacturing environments
