Job Description
We are seeking a Production Associate to join our operations team at Land O'Lakes in Hicksville. The ideal candidate will have experience in food production or manufacturing environments and a proven ability to follow safety and quality procedures while meeting production goals.
Schedule and Work Conditions:
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 3:30 pm to 1:00 am. Schedules could include weekends. Hours subject to business needs.
- Steel-toe shoes required. Composite safety shoe covers may be provided if needed.
- Reliable transportation required.
Responsibilities:
- Attend the transfer area from filler to chiller and ensure orderly workflow to WIP area.
- Transfer carts of production in and out of chillers at approximately 38°F and flip trays in chillers when needed.
- Orient product alignment at the Garvey table area and rework product below specifications.
- Inform supervisors or leads of any discrepancies in product information.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following the 5S program and promote a safe work environment.
- Follow HACCP principles, Good Manufacturing Practices, and all food and personal safety procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including transferring to the Kitchen area as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 18 years or older.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions. Basic math skills.
- Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, and climbing.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs with team assistance as needed.
- Comfort working in cold, hot, dusty, and noisy environments for extended periods.
- Ability to wear PPE including lab jacket, protective glasses, helmet, shoe covers, and hearing protection.
Preferred Skills:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Prior food industry knowledge.
Role Notes and Environment:
- Work location name: Land O'Lakes.
- No temp-to-hire. Not emergency day labor.
- No operation of forklifts, tractors, vehicles, manlifts, or respirators. Operation of production machinery required.
Candidate Resume Screening Questions (must appear at top of resume):
- Will Associate be able to stand on feet for up to 10 hours a day.
- Will Associate be comfortable working in a cold environment and going in and out of a chiller room (38°F) during the shift. Jacket may be personal or provided.
- Earplugs/hearing protection are provided. Does Associate feel comfortable wearing hearing protection.
- PPE includes white lab jacket, protective glasses, helmet, and shoe covers. Will Associate be comfortable wearing this.
- Does Associate feel comfortable heavy lifting up to 50 pounds with another Associate when boxes are ready to be moved.
- Will Associate be comfortable transferring two- and four-pound carts of production in and out of chillers (38°F) and flipping trays when needed.
- Will Associate be able to perform other duties as assigned including transferring to the Kitchen area as needed.
- Is Associate bilingual in Spanish.
- Does Associate have prior food industry knowledge.
