Position Overview:
The Wellness Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse) plays a crucial role in assisting the Resident Services Director with the comprehensive implementation, delivery, and coordination of Resident Care Services within the community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the associates in the Resident Services Department, including Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.s).
  • Support the management of the medication program and aid residents in self-administering their medications.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, their families, and healthcare providers.
  • Notify the Executive Director/Resident Services Director of any significant incidents or changes in residents' needs.
  • Assist in completing resident assessments and developing service plans.
  • Help with clinical assessments and recertifications in accordance with ALSA standards.
  • Support the Resident Services Director in recruitment and performance management within the department.
  • Participate in the training and orientation of new team members.
  • Engage in scheduled in-service training programs and team meetings.
  • Assist with the scheduling and staffing of Resident Services Assistants as required.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to associates in the Resident Services Department as needed.
  • Support residents and their families to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
  • Assist in supervising RSA staff during care provision.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Adhere to emergency protocols.
  • Understand and implement safety practices and procedures.

Communication:

  • Effectively communicate with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, peers, and other staff members.
  • Promote a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse license in the relevant state(s).
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Experience in assisted living or long-term care settings is preferred.
  • Experience and/or a special interest in working with seniors.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be in good physical and emotional health, free from communicable diseases.
  • Ability to bend and reach as necessary.
  • Capable of pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. when required.
  • Able to stand for extended periods.
  • Competent in transferring residents and using a Hoyer Lift and other medical equipment as needed.

Miscellaneous:

  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as assigned.
  • May need to work shifts different from the one for which hired.
  • Potential for extended hours as required.
  • Exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions may occur.
  • May encounter residents who are hostile or emotionally distressed due to mental health conditions.
