Job Description

Position Overview

Bone Drs Orthopedic Care, a leading orthopedic practice, is expanding to include a Sports & Functional Medicine division focused on metabolic health, performance optimization, and non-operative musculoskeletal care. We are seeking a board-certified physician with training in Sports Medicine and experience or strong interest in functional, metabolic, and hormone-based care to help develop and lead this service line.

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Evaluate and manage active adults and athletes with non-operative musculoskeletal conditions
  • \n
  • Provide sports medicine–based care including injury prevention, exercise prescription, and return-to-activity planning
  • \n
  • Lead medical weight loss programs, including GLP-1 and body recomposition strategies
  • \n
  • Diagnose and manage male hypogonadism and hormone optimization (e.g., testosterone therapy)
  • \n
  • Develop and oversee nutrition and supplement protocols grounded in evidence-based practice
  • \n
  • Interpret advanced metabolic, hormonal, and performance-related laboratory testing
  • \n
  • Address lifestyle contributors including sleep, stress, recovery, and training load
  • \n
  • Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons to optimize pre- and post-operative outcomes
  • \n
  • Refer surgical cases appropriately within the orthopedic practice
  • \n

Program Development

  • Help build and refine standardized clinical protocols for:\n
      \n
    • Weight loss and metabolic health
    • \n
    • Hormone optimization
    • \n
    • Performance and longevity care
    • \n
  • \n
  • Participate in shaping the brand and clinical identity of the Sports & Functional Medicine division
  • \n
  • Assist in supervising or collaborating with advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs), dietitians, or health coaches as the program scales
  • \n

Qualifications

Required

\n
    \n
  • MD or DO
  • \n
  • Board-certified in:\n
      \n
    • Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
    • \n
  • \n
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship
  • \n
  • Active, unrestricted medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • \n
  • Comfortable practicing in a self-pay / cash-based clinical model
  • \n
  • Strong communication skills and patient-centered approach
  • \n

Preferred

  • Additional training or certification in one or more of the following:\n
      \n
    • Functional Medicine (e.g., IFM or equivalent)
    • \n
    • Obesity Medicine (ABOM or equivalent experience)
    • \n
    • Hormone replacement therapy
    • \n
    • Lifestyle or longevity medicine
    • \n
  • \n
  • Prior experience in:\n
      \n
    • Sports medicine clinics
    • \n
    • Concierge or direct primary care
    • \n
    • Performance, wellness, or optimization-focused practices
    • \n
  • \n
  • Interest in building and growing a service line within a larger orthopedic organization
  • \n
