\nPosition Summary
\nThe Data Analyst I is an entry-level position within the Business Intelligence & Strategy department at Hays Electrical Services. This role works across all business functions — Operations, Finance, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Workforce Planning, and Safety — building reports, connecting to data sources, and delivering insights that help teams make better decisions.
\nThe Analyst I builds reports independently, connects to enterprise data sources including Databricks, and manages their own assigned workload.
\nThe right candidate is detail-oriented, foundationally strong in Power BI and data modeling concepts, and ready to contribute from day one.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nReporting & Dashboard Development

Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards across assigned business units
\n

Connect to and query data sources including Databricks, and other enterprise systems
\n
- \n
- \n
Handle incoming reporting requests independently, managing timelines and delivering accurate outputs
\n

Maintain existing dashboards, updating data connections, refreshing models, and resolving broken visuals
\n
- \n
- \n
Validate data accuracy before any report is published or distributed
\n

Follow established reporting templates, naming conventions, and team standards
\n
Data Preparation & Quality
\n- \n
- \n
Pull, clean, and shape data from multiple source systems in preparation for reporting
\n
- \n
- \n
Identify and flag data quality issues or inconsistencies to the appropriate team member
\n
- \n
- \n
Use Power Query to transform and prepare data for reporting use
\n
- \n
- \n
Follow documented SOPs for recurring data processes and assist in creating repository documentation
\n
Stakeholder Engagement
\n- \n
- \n
Gather requirements for assigned reporting requests directly from stakeholders
\n
- \n
- \n
Present reports and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
\n
- \n
- \n
Communicate proactively on task status, blockers, and delivery timelines
\n
- \n
- \n
Escalate complex, multi-layered requests to senior analysts with proper context
\n
Team Support & Documentation
\n- \n
- \n
Assist senior analysts on larger projects as assigned — data prep, validation, and report components
\n
- \n
- \n
Follow existing process documentation and flag outdated or missing steps
\n
- \n
- \n
Contribute to team knowledge by documenting recurring processes and report logic
\n
Minimum Qualifications
\n- \n
- \n
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field
\n
- \n
- \n
0–2 years of professional experience in a data, analytics, or reporting role (internships and co-ops count)
\n
- \n
- \n
Proficient in Power BI, able to connect to data sources, build and maintain data models, and develop reports and dashboards independently
\n
- \n
- \n
Demonstrated experience building a report or dashboard that surfaced meaningful KPIs or insights for a stakeholder
\n
- \n
- \n
Able to manage an assigned workload, track multiple requests, and deliver on time
\n
- \n
- \n
Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiences
\n
- \n
- \n
Foundational understanding of data modeling concepts
\n
\n
Preferred Qualifications
\n- \n

Familiarity with DAX for calculated columns or basic measures
\n

- \n
Experience with Databricks or cloud-based data platforms
\n

Working knowledge of SQL for basic querying and data exploration
\n

Experience following or referencing SOPs in a data or reporting context
\n

Exposure to construction, trades, or project-based industry data
\n

Experience with Vista by Trimble, ProjectSight, or similar ERP/project management platforms
