Position Summary

The Entry Writer is responsible for preparing and processing import customs entries, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong customs brokerage experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit import customs entries accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping documentation.

  • Classify imported merchandise using HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) codes.

  • Calculate applicable duties, taxes, and fees.

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and applicable PGA requirements.

  • Monitor shipment status and resolve customs clearance issues.

  • Communicate with customers, carriers, government agencies, and internal departments regarding shipment documentation.

  • Respond to Customs Requests for Information (CF-28), Notices of Action (CF-29), and other compliance inquiries when required.

  • Maintain accurate shipment and customs records.

  • Assist with post-entry corrections and documentation updates as needed.

  • Stay current with CBP regulations and customs compliance changes.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Entry Writer or Customs Entry Specialist.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import procedures.

  • Experience classifying products using HTS codes.

  • Knowledge of customs entry software (CargoWise, Descartes, or similar brokerage systems preferred).

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
