Department Overview

Our clinic operates standard hours from Monday to Friday. While primarily clinic-based, there may be occasions to provide hospital coverage as necessary.

Position Summary

The role involves caring for patients with wound, ostomy, and continence needs. The ideal candidate will be proficient in consulting, adhering to, and/or creating care protocols for both pediatric and adult patients. This position will act as a clinical resource and advisor to patient care staff in the formulation and execution of care plans. Exceptional clinical and interpersonal skills are essential.

The responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver personalized nursing care.
  • Coordinating patient care, conducting assessments, providing education, triaging, and performing various nursing interventions.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and assess care.
  • Demonstrating proficiency within the full scope of nursing practice and adhering to age and population-specific standards relevant to the clinical environment.
  • Operating within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules of the state of practice and licensure.

Our nursing practice is grounded in the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses as established by the American Nurses Association.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program is preferred, such as those accredited by CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA.
  • Must possess an unencumbered RN license from the State Board of Nursing in the practice location, or hold multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Completion of department-specific competencies and certifications is required.
  • Completion of a Wound, Ostomy, and/or Continence Nursing Education Program and obtaining board certification within the first 24 months of employment is necessary.
  • Certification as a Wound and Ostomy Nurse through the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board (CWON) and/or (CWOCN) is required.
