About the RoleA well-established outpatient pediatric practice in Newport News, Virginia is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their clinical team. This opportunity is open to experienced providers as well as passionate new graduates dedicated to pediatric care.
The ideal candidate will focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and building strong, supportive relationships with young patients and their families.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive primary care services to pediatric patients from newborn to 22 years old.
Perform physical examinations, well-child visits, and routine developmental assessments.
Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic pediatric conditions.
Formulate and execute individualized treatment plans.
Prescribe appropriate medications and therapies within scope of practice.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory studies.
Educate patients and families on preventive healthcare, nutrition, growth, and wellness.
Maintain accurate, timely charting within the practice's Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
Collaborate effectively with supervising physicians and clinical support staff.
Participate in the practice's shared on-call schedule and rotating weekend coverage.
Active Virginia State Medical License (or eligible for licensure).
Active DEA Registration.
Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
1 to 3 years of pediatric experience is preferred, but new graduates with a strong, demonstrable commitment to pediatrics are encouraged to apply.
Proficiency with EMR systems and clinical documentation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Capability to perform physical examinations and clinical procedures.
Readiness to respond quickly to acute medical situations or emergencies.
Standard Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM - 5:30 PM
Patient Volume: Approximately 18 to 25 patients per day
Call Coverage: Approximately 6 on-call shifts per month
Weekend Coverage: Rotating Saturday clinic (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM) every 4th or 5th weekend
