Job Summary and Qualifications\n

The Transport Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) that provides therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care to patients from birth to their 18th birthday, or older if they have a medical/surgical problem, followed or treated by a pediatric specialist. The transport RCP is well versed in all aspects of pediatric and neonatal respiratory care and performs duties within the scope of practice as defined in Nevada State Statues. Collaborating with RN partner and Medical Control Officer, develops an individualized plan of care for the patient and facilitates the transfer of the patient. Completes all transport shifts as assigned, while maintaining a willingness to also participate in outreach activities on behalf of the department/hospital.

What qualifications you will need:\n

  • Graduate of Accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
  • \n
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • \n
  • Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • \n
  • Nevada License as Practitioner of Respiratory Care (RCP).
  • \n
  • Nevada License as Blood Gas Technician, Blood Gas Technologist, or Blood Gas Supervisor.
  • \n
  • Must be PALS, ACLS, NRP and STABLE certified upon hire or by completion of orientation.
  • \n
  • PCAR within 1 year of hire.
  • \n
  • Specialty certification with NPS required upon hire to the transport team, and C-NPT required within one (1) years of hire and independently maintained while employed on transport team.
  • \n
  • Willing to obtain and maintain instructor status in AHA courses, NRP, STABLE or similar.
  • \n
  • Minimum of five (5) years as an RCP with at least three (3) years’ full time (or equivalent) experience with combined pediatric AND neonatal critical care required.
  • \n
  • Preference to transport experience and must have pediatric/neonatal experience.
  • \n
  • Completion of the Transport Team Training Program.
  • \n
  • Completion of a minimum of three (3) months of supervised transport or completion of demonstrated competency.
