Software Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a fast-moving infrastructure team building highly flexible, developer-first commerce systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-ownership environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and has deep experience working on products with significant architectural complexity.

Responsibilities:

\n
• Design, build, and maintain backend systems using Node.js and Postgres
\n
• Architect and evolve complex distributed systems that support large-scale workflows, data models, and APIs
\n
• Collaborate closely with product and developer experience teams to deliver features that unlock new capabilities for customers
\n
• Work with early customers to understand use cases and guide them through architectural decisions
\n
• Build reliable, performant services with strong observability, testing, and security practices
\n
• Contribute to internal engineering standards, tooling, and documentation
\n
• Identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and drive improvements across the infrastructure
\n
• Help shape foundational components of a managed services platform for hosted commerce infrastructure
\n

Must-Haves:

\n
• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with strong proficiency in Node.js or Postgres
\n
• Based in East Coast Americas or Europe
\n
• Experience working with complex products, such as:
\n
\n
• Developer tooling (e.g., Snyk, Sentry, Postman, Prisma)
\n
• Orchestration or workflow tooling (e.g., Temporal, Alloy)
\n
• Payments infrastructure (e.g., Stripe, Checkout, Adyen)
\n
• Delivery or ride-sharing applications
\n
• Hands-on experience building large distributed systems
\n
\n
• \n

  Experience scaling early-stage startups, ideally from Seed through Series A/B

\n
• \n

  Strong individual contributor (IC) background; recent roles should be hands-on

\n
• \n

  Familiarity with e-commerce, payments, logistics, or API-driven infrastructure is a plus
