Senior Project Manager
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
\n1. Identify design criteria plus plan and execute effective designs
\nfocused on exceeding client expectations.
\n2. Provide direct client interface and spearhead plan processing at
\npublic agencies.
\n3. Marketing, business development, lead finding and pursuit of new
\nwork. MUST HAVE A BOOK OF BUSINESS TO BRING ALONG
\n4. Admin and finance tasks such as invoicing, budget monitoring,
\nproposals, change orders, timecard approvals for team and
\nattendance at required meetings.
\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
\nOther duties may be assigned:
\nDevelop schedules and supervise coordination of workflow of the
\ndesign team with Sr. Project Manager.
\nSupervise plan preparation, technical reports, cost estimates, and
\nother client deliverables. Assure work/design is of high quality, cost
\neffective, incorporates Full Circle Thinking, and meets the agency
\nand client standards.
\nSupervise or provide direct contact with agencies, supervise plan
\nprocessing for approval, work with agencies to resolve design
\nproblems and determine compliance with agency requirements.
\nOversee coordination with all outside consultants (geotechnical,
\nlandscape, plumbing, architect, etc.) and internal departments
\n(survey, mapping, water quality, etc.). Initiate kick-off meetings, as
\nappropriate, for various project phases.
\nConduct site investigations and other research for proposals,
\ndesigns and marketing materials.
\nOversee or make visits to site during construction to check for plan
\nconformity, resolve construction discrepancies and respond to RFIs.
\nProvide workload forecast to ensure team is properly utilized.
\nCommunicate need for additional resources with Sr. Project
\nManager.
\nConduct staff reviews and provide coaching/training.
\nResponsible for seeing that time is properly charged to project and
\nemployee timecards are submitted in a timely manner.
\nTrack project budgets, provide billing instructions, and change
\norder requests when required.
\nInitiate, implement and promote new ideas and procedures
\nincorporating Full Circle Thinking.
\nRepresent FEI in meetings with clients and agencies.
\nAttend seminars and classes and submit written evaluations of
\nseminars and classes with one or two key changes your going to
\nuse.
\nRegular attendance and punctuality.
\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
\nIn coordination with Principal or Sr. Project Manager supervises 1-5
\nemployees within the Engineering Team. Carries out supervisory
\nresponsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and
\napplicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training
\nemployees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising
\nperformance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
\ncomplaints and resolving problems.
\nQUALIFICATIONS
\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
\neach essential
\nduty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of
\nthe knowledge, skill, and/or
\nability required.
\nEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
\nAny combination of a bachelors degree (B. S.) in Civil Engineering or
\nequivalent discipline from a four-year college or university and civil
\nengineering design experience totaling ten years; or equivalent
\ncombination of education and experience. Minimum 3 years of
\nexperience as the central design figure for a team as well as experience
\nmentoring and overseeing workflow of projects is required. Successful
\ncandidates will have well-developed problem solving, decision-making,
\ncommunication and team building skills and the ability to manage
\nprojects from start to finish. EIT certification required. PE license or ability
\nto obtain the PE license within two years of hire/promotion is required.
\nProficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D preferred.
