Mechanical Design Engineer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading specialist machinery manufacturer. The company designs and builds high-precision automated production equipment used in a variety of sectors, including industrial manufacturing and bespoke automation solutions.This role is ideal for someone who wants to take ownership of projects, work closely with production teams, and be involved hands-on during build and commissioning to gain deeper insights into the machines.Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical design activities on assigned projectsProduce and maintain 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and assembliesImplement engineering changes during build and commissioningMaintain accurate BOMs, drawing registers, and project documentationLead internal design review meetingsSupport customer-facing technical discussions and design reviewsEnsure all parts and assemblies are correctly loaded and maintained in the MRP systemAssist with CE compliance, machinery risk assessments, and technical documentationMentor junior designers and support development of CAD/drafting skillsSupport production, spares, and servicing enquiriesAbout You Proven experience as a Mechanical Design EngineerStrong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)Experience with special purpose machinery, automation systems, or bespoke production equipmentKnowledge of BOM management, MRP systems, and engineering change controlUnderstanding of CE compliance and machinery risk assessmentsExcellent communication skills and a collaborative approachHands-on mindset and comfortable engaging with production and commissioning teamsBenefits 37.5-hour working week (8:1516:30 MonThu, 8:1516:30 Fri)Salary sacrifice pension schemeOptional private healthcareDeath in service paymentEmployee benefit scheme (discounts/offers)Permanently office-based role, with ad-hoc WFH possible when approvedThis is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist engineering business with a global reach, working on technically challenging and highly bespoke projects, with real career progression potential.TPBN1_UKTJ
