Job Title: School CaretakerLocation: Newham, East LondonStart Date: ASAPSalary: £16 £19 per hour (depending on experience)Contract: Full-time, Temporary/PermanentWorking Hours: 8:00am 16:00pmCompany: Complete Classroom ServicesAbout the RoleComplete Classroom Services is seeking a reliable, proactive, and hardworking School Caretaker to support the day-to-day maintenance, security, and upkeep of school premises in Newham and surrounding East London areas.The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the school environment remains safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors. This is a hands-on role requiring practical maintenance skills, a strong awareness of health and safety, and the ability to respond effectively to site-related issues.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs across the school siteEnsure the school buildings and grounds are clean, safe, secure, and well-presentedUndertake opening and closing duties, including security checks and alarm systemsMonitor and maintain school facilities, including heating, lighting, plumbing, and general building fabricConduct routine site inspections and report any maintenance or health and safety concernsAssist with setting up rooms and facilities for school activities and eventsLiaise with contractors and support maintenance works on siteEnsure compliance with health and safety procedures and school policiesMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities and site checksRespond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and site incidentsSupport the school leadership team with general site management dutiesCarry out grounds maintenance duties where required to ensure outdoor areas remain safe and tidyThe Ideal Candidate Will HavePrevious experience as a School Caretaker, Site Assistant, Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Operative, or in a similar roleGood practical skills across general maintenance, repairs, and building upkeepKnowledge of health and safety procedures within a school or similar environmentAbility to work independently and use initiativeGood communication and interpersonal skillsReliable, flexible, and professional approach to workBasic IT skills, including email and record keepingGood physical fitness and willingness to undertake manual tasksDesirable Qualifications and ExperiencePrevious experience working within a school, academy, college, or educational settingHealth and Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH or equivalent)Basic trade skills such as plumbing, decorating, carpentry, or electrical maintenanceUnderstanding of safeguarding requirements within schoolsExperience with site security procedures and alarm systemsIn Return, We OfferA welcoming and supportive working environmentOpportunities to work within well-regarded schools across Newham and East LondonOngoing training and professional developmentCompetitive rates of payTemporary-to-permanent and permanent opportunities availableDedicated support from the Complete Classroom Services teamTPBN1_UKTJ
