They provide support to men, women and children affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.The RoleThe Outreach Worker will work as part of a Lotus Service Team to provide outreach support and information services to individuals affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. The role involves offering practical, emotional, and advocacy-based support to enable service users to make informed decisions and move towards safety and stability.Key responsibilities:Provide information and options to enable service users to make informed decisions, including: Safety planningLegal rights and remedies and introductions to appropriate legal servicesWelfare benefitsHousing optionsFurther education and leisure pursuitsOffer support including: Completing necessary documentationActing as an advocate on matters such as benefits, maintenance payments, housing and legal issuesSupporting access to refuge servicesProviding court supportAssisting with tenancy issues, resettlement and housing solutionsNetworking with statutory and voluntary agencies to reduce homelessness and disruption caused by domestic abuseLeading group support programmes (Freedom Programme, Unbroken and Unbreakable)Supporting families resettling into new environments, including those leaving refugeProviding emotional supportReferring service users to appropriate agenciesCreate and maintain accurate client records, including: Risk assessmentsSafety planningNeeds assessments and Individual Support Plans (ISPs)Ongoing review of assessments and ISPsDocumented reviews of actions takenMaintenance of computerised case recordsPromote the work of the organisation and awareness of domestic abuse and sexual violence through talks, training, campaigns and educational activitiesMaintain confidentiality in all aspects of work, including records, correspondence and data systemsAttend internal meetings, contributing to service development and organisational discussionsWork collaboratively within the team to develop and improve outreach servicesMaintain positive relationships with external agencies and make referrals where appropriateKeep up to date with legislation, training and best practice relating to domestic abuseAttend training, conferences and forums as requiredFollow all organisational policies and proceduresSupport the wider aims and objectives of the organisation as requiredRequirementsEssentialUnderstanding of domestic abuse and sexual violence and its impact on individuals and children, alongside a basic empathy for those who have experienced abuseExperience working in a paid or unpaid capacity within a support, advice or information service, including delivering group programmesStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse individuals and organisationsAbility to produce clear written work, including reports, case notes and letters with accurate grammar and punctuationKnowledge of accurate and timely record keeping, data collection and confidentiality requirementsCompetent use of IT systems including email, internet and basic office softwareAbility to manage a varied workload, work under pressure, and respond flexibly and methodicallyAbility to use own initiative and make appropriate decisions within professional boundariesCommitment to equal opportunities practiceFull driving licence, business insurance, and ability to travel across Leicester, Leicestershire and RutlandDesirableExperience working in a domestic abuse or sexual violence support serviceExperience of multi-agency workingExperience delivering structured group programmes such as the Freedom ProgrammeKnowledge of housing, welfare benefits, and legal support systemsExperience of outreach or community-based support workWhat's In It For YouPaid holidays, including public and religious holidaysWorkplace Pension SchemePaid compassionate leave (up to five working days per year)Paid sickness leave after six months' service (up to eight working weeks in any 12 months)Training and professional development opportunities, flexible working arrangements where possibleRegular supervision and support from your line managerOpportunities to make a tangible difference in the lives of survivorsA supportive, collaborative, and passionate team environmentMeaningful and rewarding work within a specialist charityWhat's next?
