We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded HR Manager to join our Cement business, supporting our Tunstead Cement Plant, Commercial and Supply Chain & Logistics Central operations.This is a high-impact HR leadership role where you'll partner closely with operational and senior leaders, providing expert guidance across a broad range of people matters. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and is passionate about making a real difference.What You'll Be DoingAs HR Manager, you'll deliver a proactive, commercially focused HR service that supports both operational and strategic business objectives.Key responsibilities will include:Partnering with senior leaders and management teams to provide expert HR advice, challenge and support on complex people mattersDelivering a high-quality employee relations service, managing disciplinary, grievance, absence and capability cases while minimising risk and supporting positive outcomesBuilding strong relationships with Trade Union representatives and leading local industrial relations activity, including supporting annual pay negotiationsLeading organisational change initiatives, including restructures, reorganisations and redundancy programmes, ensuring legal compliance and effective consultation throughoutInfluencing and coaching leaders to strengthen management capability, drive accountability and support a high-performance cultureSupporting workforce planning, succession planning and talent development activities to ensure future capability needs are metLeading recruitment, onboarding, early careers and educational engagement initiatives across your business areasWorking closely with leaders to identify learning and development priorities and support career progression across the workforceUsing HR data and insights to identify trends, support decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiativesCollaborating with colleagues across the wider Cement and Packed HR team to deliver consistent HR practices, share best practice and support business-wide initiativesWhat We Are Looking ForWe're seeking an HR professional who combines strong technical expertise with the confidence to influence, challenge and build trusted relationships at all levels of the organisation.You will ideally have:Significant generalist HR experience gained within a manufacturing, industrial, engineering or similarly operational environmentDemonstrable experience managing complex employee relations cases and organisational change programmesExperience working within a unionised environment and developing effective relationships with Trade Union representativesStrong knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical applicationExperience coaching, influencing and supporting leaders across multiple organisational levelsA bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a business-related discipline and CIPD Level 5 qualification, or be working towards itExcellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility quicklyStrong commercial awareness and the ability to balance people priorities with operational and business objectivesThe confidence to make difficult decisions, effectively manage conflicting priorities and remain calm under pressureStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR data and translate insights into practical business actionsMost importantly, you'll be someone who builds trust, embraces challenge, drives positive change and is passionate about creating an environment where people and businesses can thrive together.Join Tarmac and play a key role in helping shape the future of our people, our culture and our business.Why TarmacWe don't just offer a job, we offer a career.Alongside this role, you'll have access to industry-leading rewards, development opportunities, and a culture that puts people first, including:Bonus schemeEnhanced holiday entitlementContributory pension schemeAccess to the Tarmac Reward website with discounts on retailers, holidays, etc.Access to our Employee Assistance helpline for free and confidential adviceAccess to join our Employee Communities (employee networks) we currently have nine communities inc.(REACH) Religious, Ethnic, Cultural Heritage, LGBTQ+, Parents & carers, Ability, Wellbeing, Female voice and menopauseTraining and development opportunitiesTarmac is committed to being a Forces-friendly employer.
