Design Engineer

Working on both standard products and customer-specific solutions, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering reliable, practical and high-quality engineering solutions.With a focus on innovation, quality and continuous improvement, this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable organisation where you can take ownership of projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation.The Role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing mechanical designs from customer requirements through to finished products.Working as part of a close-knit engineering team, you will collaborate with internal departments including Production, Purchasing, Installation and Sales to deliver practical, cost-effective designs that meet customer requirements and industry standards.This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of bespoke projects, giving you exposure to the full engineering lifecycle and the satisfaction of seeing your designs become fully manufactured products.Key Responsibilities Design bespoke mechanical equipment using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, fabrication drawings and technical documentation.Develop concepts from customer specifications, requirements and site information.Complete engineering calculations and design checks where required.Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and efficient to produce.Support product improvements, design reviews and engineering projects.Assist with component selection, cost considerations and supplier discussions.Provide technical support to installation and service teams when required.About You The ideal candidate will be a practical and hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys solving engineering challenges and developing products for real-world applications.You will have experience with:Mechanical design and product development3D CAD packages (SolidWorks preferred)Fabricated steel structuresSheet metal and welded assembliesDesign for Manufacture (DFM)Production and manufacturing drawingsBill of Materials (BOM) creationEngineering calculationsWorking closely with manufacturing environmentsDesirable Experience Experience within any of the following areas would be beneficial:Bespoke machinery designSpecial purpose machineryLifting equipmentMaterials handling systemsHydraulic systemsStructural fabricationsIndustrial equipment designWhat's on Offer Salary of £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experienceOpportunity to work on varied and technically interesting projectsFull project lifecycle involvement from concept to completionStable and established engineering environmentSupportive and collaborative team cultureProfessional development opportunitiesApply today to be considered for this excellent opportunity.TPBN1_UKTJ
