Role: Payroll OfficerLocation: Manchester, 3 days office, 2 days remote each weekHouryl rate: up to £20 per hour DOEDuration: 6 month contract initially, possibility for the role to become permanentAn opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a busy organisation operating across the utilities and construction sectors. This role will support payroll operations during a key period of change and systems development.The successful candidate will have knowledge of end-to-end payroll processing, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work within a fast-paced, project-driven environment.Key Responsibilities of the Payroll OfficerProcess weekly and fortnightly payrolls for both site-based and office employeesSupport the implementation of new payroll systems, including testing, data migration, and user trainingWork closely with finance and IT teams to improve payroll processes and reportingPrepare and submit P11D forms in line with HMRC requirementsSupport year-end payroll activities, reconciliations, audits, and statutory reportingMaintain accurate payroll records and documentation for compliance and audit purposesProduce payroll reports and analysis for finance and operational teamsEnsure compliance with UK payroll legislation and industry-specific payroll practicesLiaise with HR, finance, and operational managers during project mobilisation and demobilisation phasesSkills and Experience RequiredPrevious payroll experience within a fast-paced environmentStrong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirementsExperience using payroll systems such as ADP, PeopleHub, Sage, or similarAdvanced Excel skills and confidence working with HR and finance systemsStrong communication skills with a proactive approach to problem solvingDesirable ExperienceExperience managing payroll across multiple sites or projectsKnowledge of CIS and contractor compliance within construction environmentsTo be considered for this Payroll Officer opportunity, you must APPLY NOW, making sure to attach your up-to-date CV.*Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an initial telephone interview.
